The story behind the art:

“Cheerful Gift” was inspired by the beautiful message in 2 Corinthians 9:6–8: that giving, when done freely and joyfully, is one of the most Christlike acts we can offer. In this piece, I pictured the Savior kneeling down to joyfully receive a flower from a child while offering many more in return. It’s a moment of mutual giving, filled with love, warmth, and gentle delight. It says that Jesus doesn’t just teach us to give. He gives to us, again and again, with joy in His eyes.

One of my favorite things about this piece is the expression on both faces. There’s no pressure in this moment, only pure love. The Lord’s joy matches the child’s, and together they celebrate the kind of giving that builds relationships and strengthens hearts. As followers of Christ, we know that cheerful giving, whether it’s a flower, a testimony, or a quiet act of service, is a way to walk in the Savior’s steps and bring light into the world.

This piece is especially close to my heart because it brings to mind the countless small gifts exchanged between parents and children: dandelions picked on walks, bedtime stories told with a smile, handmade drawings delivered with love. These moments feel small, but they carry eternal weight. I created “Cheerful Gift” as a tribute to those everyday acts of generosity and connection, especially the ones between mothers and their little ones.
