John 3:7–14
Jesus continues His conversation with Nicodemus, declaring, “You must be born again,” and describing the work of the Spirit. The passage then turns toward the image of Moses raising the serpent in the wilderness and the coming lifting up of the Son of Man.
John 3:14–20
The teaching continues into the promise of eternal life and the celebrated words of John 3:16 — “For God so loved the world.” Jesus then speaks of the judgment “the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness more than the light because their works were evil.”
