Wilson’s Warbler
$50.00
Wilson’s Warbler is part of our Birds of Alaska Collection. We love to take the birds, whether they live in Alaska year-round, spend the summer here, or just migrate through, and recreate them into bracelets.
Product Description
Alaskan Inspiration: According to the Alaska Department of
Fish and Game, adfg(.)alaska(.)gov, “These Chickadee-sized Warblers are easy to
identify. Wilson’s Warbler has
olive-green wings and back, and the face, breast and underparts are yellow.”
What exactly is a Warbler?
According to a-z-animals(.)com, “Warblers are so called because of the
trills of their song.”
Wilson’s Warbler is one of the smallest warblers in the
USA.
Interestingly, Western populations of Wilson’s Warbler tend
to be brighter yellow than Eastern populations.
Curious!
It was announced on November 1st of 2023 that the American
Ornithological Society will no longer name birds after people in North
America. Wilson’s Warbler is one of the
birds who will renamed. He is currently named
after the 19th century naturalist Alexander Wilson. My personal opinion? I think that’s foolish, but.
Alaskan Interpretation:
As always, our Birds of Alaska bracelet is reflective of the male
bird. I used three black matte beads to
represent the black cap of his head.
Next, you will see two large yellow recycled glass disc
beads to represent the yellow face, breast and underparts of the bird.
The Grey Saucer Natural Wood Beads represent the gray
feathers of the wings and tail.
I finished each end of the beaded section with a Yellow
Jasper bead representing the tiny hints of yellow in the tail.
We chose gray leather to finish off this bracelet, but gray,
black, and brown is available. Your
choice!
